Who Would Jesus Smack Down?

“Driscoll’s New Calvinism underscores a curious fact: the doctrine of total human depravity has always had a funny way of emboldening, rather than humbling, its adherents.”

Summary observation from an interesting NYT article on Mark Driscoll.

Would Mars Hill allow a man into their pulpit whose presence was one of "weakness and fear and much trembling" (1cor2:3)?
God save us not only from pathetic christianity, but also from a christianity that doesnt know the power of God perfected in weakness.

Yeah, Driscoll's comments about how the Church has made Christ an effeminate limp-wristed woosie and emasculated Christians in the process make for a great soundbyte (He's the shock jock of pastors after all ...and PR is everything when you are trying to unseat Oprah as the number one podcast)
But is his picture of Jesus or Christianity any more accurate, or even Biblical? He might have some interesting things to say in Death by Love or Vintage Jesus (maybe not all that original or insightful) but His day-to-day portrayal of Jesus as an aggressive provocateur and the ideal Christian man as a combative, hyper-sexed, MMA fighter, is surely more suspect and superficial.
